The Beginning |
In 1974 Gates left Harvard and moved to work at Honeywell with Paul Allen. Honeywell is a company that creates commercials and more. A year later the duo formed a partnership they called Micro-Soft ,a blend of micro-computer and software. They later dropped the hyphen to make Microsoft, the company all know good and well. After this they took off with the company. Once Bill put himself as head of the company, Microsoft got $2.5 million in 1978. On August 12,1981 Microsoft introduced its first personal computer with Microsoft 16-bit operating system, MS-DOS 1.0.
Five years later Allen and Gates decided to move the company to Redmond, Washington. Since the business was doing good and the products were successful they decided to launch the thing we all know so well, Microsoft Office and twelve years later, on May 31, 2001 they launched Office XP. Then on October 25, 2001 they put out Windows XP to go along with it. The XP stands for eXPerience. In January 2000 they named Steve Blamer the president and chief executive officer of the company. Bill Gates and Microsoft is that they were the company to invent the .net.
